Ever since we met 27 years ago, Raja and I have adventured across the globe on many active vacations and cycling trips. It’s a delight to discover new destinations, engage with local cultures, taste exotic cuisines and explore sites we only could dream of visiting as children.
Dreaming of a unique and memorable vacation with your closest friends? Perhaps a special anniversary or birthday celebration, or enriching family reunion? How about an exciting company retreat or team-building experience? Group bike tours afford the perfect opportunity to take a break from hectic schedules and reconnect with those you care about on a level not possible at home or within the walls of your work-space. Exploring new regions, conquering challenging rides together, and discovering new perspectives develops stronger bonds with your acquaintances, friends, and family. Gathering a group of friends or family together to go on an active vacation can also be a hassle-free way to save money.
Sojourn bike tour guests tell us time and time again that our tour leaders are the best in the business. Gracious, engaging, and intelligent. Always a step ahead of your desires, they are adept at everything from spinning wrenches to whipping up fabulous picnic lunches or suggesting the perfect beverage to pair with your dinner selection. They even have a knack for magically appearing with the support van and refreshments just as your energy is waning.
For those who have yet travel with Sojourn, our bicycling vacations feature two world-class tour leaders who are truly jack of all trades. In addition to ensuring guest safety and enjoyment while on vacation, our tour leaders also make for exceptional travel companions. From retired teachers to Olympic alpine ski coaches to commercial bankers to professional photographers to non-profit philanthropists to former military pilots and more, our tour leaders are the heart and soul of Sojourn. Needless to say, we take great pride in these ‘curators of fun’ who are not just employees, but rather like our guests, they are family.
Sojourn pioneered bike and brew tours in their home state of Vermont over a decade ago. Since then, Vermont’s craft beer industry has already matched the $300 million economic impact of the state’s ski resort industry and is rapidly approaching the mark set by its iconic maple syrup industry. The Green Mountain state ranks first nationally in craft breweries per capita and none are more renowned, or remote, than Hill Farmstead.
For the third straight year, Hill Farmstead was bestowed the honor of “Best Brewery in the World” by RateBeer — widely regarded as the world’s most in-depth and accurate beer review/rating organization. Their mission of hand crafting succinct, elegant beers of distinction, as well as reviving and diversifying the land of the Hill Farmstead, has achieved astounding success. Thoughtful and creative founder (and brewer!), Shaun Hill, has made Hill Farmstead in Greensboro, Vermont the pinnacle of craft beer pilgrimages in the United States, if not the world.
Vermont bike tours are our passion. This is our home. This is where we ride. And, this is where we have cycled every country road for a hundred miles in all directions. We are locals here and, for that reason, and all the others that make Sojourn special, we hold the distinction of having the most respected of all Vermont bike tours.
Sojourn’s main office is located in the heart of the Lake Champlain Valley, just a mile from the shores of the lake. It’s a prime location from which to host bike tours here and throughout the Green Mountain State. Our staff, all of whom are ardent cyclists, are intimately familiar with the finest country roads around – those that showcase the valley’s gorgeous scenery and reward cyclists with that often elusive feeling of freedom elicited from cycling over rolling terrain along country roads devoid of motorized vehicles (save the occasional tractor).
