Ever since we met 27 years ago, Raja and I have adventured across the globe on many active vacations and cycling trips. It’s a delight to discover new destinations, engage with local cultures, taste exotic cuisines and explore sites we only could dream of visiting as children.
Wine Country typically embodies all of the elements of a fantastic bicycling vacation: scenic countryside, elegant accommodations, exceptional cuisine, and interesting history. The beautiful and little known Niagara Peninsula of Ontario, Canada is one such place.
In addition to the wine, there are numerous bike paths and quiet country roads to be explored during our Niagara Wine Country bicycling vacation. In the tiny village of Jordan, a former sugar mill converted into a lovely inn is owned by one of the area’s most noted wineries which also features one of Ontario’s finest restaurants.
Tour guide, Kurt Hill, is easily Sojourn’s favorite hill. He took some time today for a short interview about guiding bike tours in Arizona. Kurt guides bike tours for Sojourn in Oregon, California, and Texas, and Arizona.
When asked what he likes most about Arizona he said “I just love the desert – it’s so different than what most people are used to.” He cited the two biggest reasons guests choose this trip: they want to escape the cold, and they are drawn by the magic of the Sonoran Desert. “I love being there, especially in the early mornings. There is such peace and tranquility.”
You might imagine that you’d have to limit your memento purchases on a bicycling vacation, but what vacation is complete without souvenirs?
Sojourn’s Arizona bike tours wind through some amazing wilderness areas like the Saguaro National Park and Sabino Canyon, where bicyclists adhere to the Leave No Trace practice of “Take only photographs, leave only footprints” ( in the case of these bike tours, that would be tire tracks), but these trips also enjoy a visit to Tubac.
A bike tour could be the answer to your holiday gift-giving conundrums. There is no better way to celebrate special occasions or strengthen relationships than sharing the excitement of new travel experiences.
