Dreaming of a unique and memorable vacation with your closest friends? Perhaps a special anniversary or birthday celebration, or enriching family reunion? How about an exciting company retreat or team-building experience? Group bike tours afford the perfect opportunity to take a break from hectic schedules and reconnect with those you care about on a level not possible at home or within the walls of your work-space. Exploring new regions, conquering challenging rides together, and discovering new perspectives develops stronger bonds with your acquaintances, friends, and family. Gathering a group of friends or family together to go on an active vacation can also be a hassle-free way to save money.
Inspired by the stories and the experiences of the groups that sojourn with us, we’ve compiled our list of top 5 reasons why traveling with a group in 2018 is a great idea.
#1. Traveling together forms a special, life-lasting bond
Wonderful tour experiences are multiplied when shared with friends and family. Vacationing with others who have similar passions often creates special bonding moments and the chance for meaningful conversations. From exploring new regions by bike to enjoying majestic scenery to savoring new local cuisines and participating in unique activities, the great times enjoyed together and the memories you’ll build will be invaluable. Upon return from a Sojourn vacation, you’ll be able to talk about all the amazing adventures, the fantastic places you saw, and reminisce about the life-changing moments you went through together.
#2. All of the details are taken care of
Planning a week-long trip can be stressful. When you travel in a group with Sojourn, you’ll benefit from the same incredible cycling routes, veteran tour leaders, distinctive accommodations, and superb blend of activities that form the basis for all of our vacations. Additionally, we provide dedicated support at every step along the way. Our guest services manager will offer one-on-one services to help ensure your tour selection meets your interests and our impeccable tour leaders will handle all the logistics of your itinerary, meaning your only responsibility is to sit back and enjoy your trip. Simply pick a destination, pack your bags, and leave the rest to us.
#3. Immerse yourself in a region like never before
There’s no better way to gain exclusive access to a region than traveling on a guided group tour. Many of our tour leaders have traveled to, lived in, and/or worked in the areas that we operate granting them insider knowledge of the areas to which we travel. From one-of-a-kind hidden gem locations to food and wine recommendations to contextual historical information, our expert tour guides will enrich your visit and give you the chance to explore destinations like locals.
#4. Science says it’s better
A study published in the SCAN journal used an MRI scanner to study the brain patterns of participants while looking at a series of photographs. Before revealing each photo, participants were informed if their friend in the next room was going to see the same picture. The participants reported feeling significantly more positive when they were informed their friend would be viewing the same picture. This so-called “sharing effect” showed higher levels of brain activity, in the part of the brain typically associated with the “reward system”. The simple knowledge of sharing an experience with someone important to us can make that experience even better.
#5. It’s cost-effective
Not only can group trips be easier on your frame of mind, they can also be more kind to your wallet.
