Tour Overview

The Ultimate Summer Cycling Getaway

Love cycling for hours through beautiful rolling countryside? Are you often found sharing a favorite beer with friends at the end of rides? Would you choose a hot shower and comfortable bed over pitching your tent at the end of a ride? If so, our Vermont Bike & Brew Tours are for you!

With our local knowledge and access to the top brewers in our home state of Vermont, Sojourn offers an unmatched experience. Vermont has more microbreweries per capita than any state in the US and, as luck would have it, they are nestled in the midst of some of the state's top cycling routes. Enjoy routes through scenic, rolling countryside and signature Vermont rides.

A true inn-to-inn tour, the Bike and Brewery tour showcases Vermont’s scenic country roads, sprawling green fields and clear mountain streams. Classic barns, town greens and country stores magically transport you to simpler times of generations past. Creative young entrepreneurs are returning centuries-old family farms to viable agricultural use. Small organic farms and specialty producers have grown in concert with the craft beer movement in Vermont, creating a strong local foods culture.

Strong cyclists will appreciate the lengthy routes over Vermont's rolling and hilly terrain, and a refreshing cold one at the end of the day's rides. We're betting that you'll be introduced to some of the finest rides and beer that you have ever experienced.

Join us for an amazing ride this summer in the Green Mountain State! If you're interested in a recent insider perspective from a Sojourn guest, read Andy Mockler's review of his experience with us in 2016 Vermont Bike and Brewery Tour.

Tour Itinerary

Day By Day Tour Overview.

  • Day
    1

Ride south along a lightly traveled route through the Champlain Valley, pedaling through rolling farmland. After your first beer tastings of the week, settle in to the Swift House Inn. This evening, staff from one of Vermont's most respected craft breweries joins us for dinner, a Q&A about beer and brewing, and some tasty samples.

  • Day
    2

Today’s ride dips and climbs along the eastern slopes of the Green Mountains before a winding descent into Richmond where you can admire the historic Round Church. Follow the river to Waterbury, one of our nation’s top rated towns for craft beer. Head north to Stowe where you can conclude your ride with a taste of world famous Heady Topper at the Alchemist's new brewery.

  • Day
    3

Country roads wind through farmland along the gradual climb to Vermont's iconic Northeast Kingdom. Enjoy a picnic lunch and tasting at esteemed Hill Farmstead Brewery before continuing to the Inn at Mountain View Farm which features expansive views. On clear summer evenings stargazing is a favorite pastime around the fire pit.

  • Day
    4

Choose from several options during today's layover at the Inn at Mountain View Farm. Tops on the list is a half or full day of mountain biking on the famed Kingdom Trails, often referred to as the Moab of the East. Those who prefer to stick to the pavement will enjoy a loop ride that concludes at Vermont's only outdoor bar - one that caters to cyclists due to its location and numerous local beers on tap.

  • Day
    5

Today’s ride leads north to Newport on the shores of Lake Memphremagog. Visit the Northeast Kingdom Tasting Center to sample local Vermont products ranging from ice cider to maple syrup. Gear up for an afternoon ride that crosses the spine of the Green Mountains and finishes with a rewarding downhill run into Montgomery where tired legs can recover with a dip in the local swimming hole. Named Yankee Magazine’s “Best New Inn for 2016,” The Inn is the perfect place for our final evening together as you dine in their lodge-style restaurant, complete with local beers on tap in their pub.

  • Day
    6

Ease into the day with a nearly 20 mile downhill run. Follow a country road with stunning mountain views to the little village of Jericho Center before the downhill run back to Richmond for lunch at Stone Corral Brewing. Following showers in Shelburne, you will be transported to the airport or to Hotel Vermont at the conclusion of your trip.
