Arrive in San Antonio → Warm-Up Ride along River walk
Begin your Texas bike tour with an early-morning pickup at San Antonio International Airport. Please arrive ready to ride. After a bike fitting and orientation, ease into your adventure with a warm-up ride along scenic paths overlooking San Antonio’s iconic River Walk. Spend the afternoon discovering the city’s rich history and vibrant culture, with time to explore landmarks such as The Alamo, El Mercado, and La Villita. This evening, gather with your fellow travelers for a welcome reception followed by dinner at the Omni’s Wine Spectator Award-winning restaurant—a memorable introduction to Texas hospitality and cuisine.
Sister Creek, Luckenbach
Head for the Hills: This morning we travel to the tiny town of Sister Creek, where your Hill Country biking begins. Lightly traveled roads through sprawling ranchland and past cypress-lined creeks offer a glorious introduction to this beautiful region of Texas. Take in the Luckenbach beauty of the mystical Guadalupe River before winding your way north to , whose country music fame was sealed years ago when country music legend Jerry Jeff Walker made the song Back to the Basics of Love popular. Today’s ultimate destination is the town of Fredericksburg, where German immigrants settled. Hoffman Haus, our home for the next three nights is a lovely property that is the essence of rustic sophistication. Dinner is on your own tonight.
Willow City Loop, Optional Enchanted Rock Hike,
Our ride begins in Fredericksburg and winds for miles along roads so lightly traveled you might feel like riding on a bike path. Willow City Loop is a narrow and winding valley road that penetrates some of the densest concentrations of bluebonnets in the area. In addition to bluebonnets, various lupine, paintbrush, and other brightly colored wildflowers punctuate the landscape. Post lunch, You may visit the fabulous Museum of the Pacific War this afternoon, just a short walk from the Hoffman Haus. Dinner this evening is at one of our favorite local restaurants.
LBJ Ranch and Visitor Center
Today’s ride leads east to Stonewall and the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park. Nestled among oak trees along the Pedernales River banks is the Johnson family’s homestead and ranch, which produced our nation’s 36th President. You might also visit the Texas White House and admire LBJ’s old Air Force One. Folks often wonder how the plane got to its current home, but if you search for it, you’ll notice a runway cleverly tucked in an inconspicuous location in the center of the ranch. Your tour leaders will prepare a delicious picnic lunch overlooking the ranch and the Pedernales River, where you can relax as the gentle waters flow past. Dinner this evening will be a grand occasion as you will be the guests of delightful local hosts in town.
Pecan Creek Ride
A ride along rolling roads through rural ranchlands is on tap for the morning, often following Pecan Creek. This loop takes us through some quiet backroads, eventually leading us back into Fredericksburg. Following lunch on your own in town, we will transport you to the airport in San Antonio.
