P’tit Train du Nord Rail Trail Bike Tour
Tour Overview
Bike P’tit Train du Nord - The 200 Km Rail Trail in Quebec's Laurentian Region
Get ready for an adventure as we expand our collection of Rail Trail Bike Tours. Experience the breathtaking beauty of Quebec’s Laurentian region with the P’tit Train du Nord bike trip. Spanning 234 km, the P’tit Train du Nord is a “linear park” rail trail dedicated to recreation and tourism. Originally established as a railroad in 1876, the train service ceased operations in 1981, paving the way for this remarkable multi-use trail.
This 234 km rail trail offers everything cyclists dream about – picturesque countryside, mouthwatering local cuisine, charming towns, and relatively easy cycling, especially when biking from north to south. Originally a railroad, the trail was transformed after the Quebec government purchased it from the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1994. You’ll explore the majestic Laurentians during this unique four-day car-free riding. Daily mileage and van-supported options are suitable for cyclists of all levels. The trail winds through breathtaking forests, past serene lakes and charming villages. A trip highlight includes a stay at the Relais and Chateaux property of StoneHaven Le Manoir and two nights at the award-winning alpine town of Mont-Tremblant, where you can explore a vibrant area filled with shops, restaurants, and exciting activities. While the trail primarily features paved asphalt, approximately 30% consists of crushed limestone, adding to the diverse cycling experience. Join us for an unforgettable adventure!

After breakfast, the day’s ride begins next to the shores of Lac Nominingue and then starts following the Riviere-Rouge. After 34 miles, we detour off the P’tit Train du Nord for the final miles to the classic alpine village of Mont-Tremblant. Our home for the next two nights will be the Fairmont Tremblant—a classic hotel initially built to serve passengers on the Canadian Pacific Railway. Tonight’s dinner is at a fine dining establishment in the pedestrian village center of Mont-Tremblant. Today’s ride will be primarily on paved asphalt and includes a 9-mile stretch of crushed limestone – Our bikes are well-equipped to handle this terrain.
Enjoy a day off to explore the alpine village of Mont-Tremblant. Take a scenic gondola ride to the summit and enjoy 360-degree views of the surrounding Laurentians.
