Our bike tour in Spain takes you through the Basque Country and the Rioja wine region, each with a distinct identity. We start in Bilbao, riding to the renowned Vivanco vineyard, one of the top 50 wineries globally, and a museum holding works by Warhol and Picasso. Later, enjoy a decadent dinner of Basque and Spanish delicacies. Explore Alava, the Rioja wine region’s quaint villages, and Najera’s historic town. Ride alongside pilgrims walking the Camino de Santiago. Pedal on to the 10th-century fortress town of San Vicente de la Sonsierra, then transfer to the cultural and culinary capital of San Sebastien.
Ride to Mount Igueldo for expansive Atlantic coastline views, the beaches of Lekeitio, and San Nicolas Island before recharging with a selection of pintxos for lunch. Cycle through the French Basque Country and the Pasajes San Pedro and Hondarribia fishing villages, following more markers of the Camino de Santiago to Saint-Jean-de-Luz. Take one last stroll on San Sebastien’s golden beaches before returning home.

- A lot of the gourmet restaurants where we dine offer specially prepared limited or fixed menus featuring regional cuisine. So selecting off the main menu might not be an option.
- As with any European destination, the pace in Basque country is slow. The Basques are especially a very relaxed community. We request guests to be respectful of the local pace and use that time to relax and savor the local ambiance.
- Most of the locals do speak English. Besides, you will always be supported by two Sojourn leaders who speak English, French, Spanish and Euskara (Basque) with equal fluency.

Ongi etorri! Start your Spain cycling trip in Bilbao. After a short shuttle and bike fitting, we ride to visit the renowned vineyard Casa Valdelana. Later, transfer to the unadulterated luxury of Hotel Silken de Laguardia, your home for two nights. Join us for a welcome reception and dinner to relish Basque and Spanish delicacies.
Set out on a revelatory ride in Alava past rolling vineyards and dozens of quaint towns and villages of Rioja Wine Region. Visit the historic town of Najera and ride alongside the pilgrims walking on Camino de Santiago.
Pedal to a 10th-century fortress town of San Vicente de la Sonsierra. We transfer this afternoon to San Sebastian. Your home for the next three nights is at the historic, elegant Hotel de Londres y de Inglaterra, San Sebastian’s iconic beachfront hotel.
Ride San Sebastian’s gorgeous bike path with panoramic coastal views and then ride through Mount Igueldo on to Lekeitio, Getaria, and San Nicolás Island. Recharge with a selection of pintxos for lunch.
Make your way to French Basque Country through the fishing village of Pasajes San Pedro and Hondarribia following the yellow markers of Camino de Santiago to the resort town of Saint-Jean-de-Luz. Tonight toast to this Basque adventure with a sumptuous farewell dinner.
