Ride a renowned cycling loop coveted by both locals and road biking enthusiasts around New England. The notch through the Green Mountains was named for smugglers who, more than two centuries ago, used its caves and heavily forested slopes to hide illicit goods destined for Canada. Ride along Lamoille Valley Rail Trail and stop for lunch and to sample local craft beer at Lost Nation Brewing before finishing the grand loop back to Stowe Mountain Lodge. A shorter morning on the bike will bring you back to the Resort in time for the first of two semi-final matches of the Stowe Mountain Lodge Classic tournament, beginning at midday. Bike to the renowned Trapp Family Lodge in the morning. The Von Trapp family toured the United States as the Trapp Family Singers and eventually settled here on an enchanted farm with sweeping mountain views reminiscent of their beloved homeland of Austria. Their journey was made famous by the acclaimed movie “Sound of Music”. Hike around the property before an optional visit to their Austrian Tea Room and adjacent Von Trapp Brewery.
